PACA’s JV Soccer Captain, Vitor Silva, may only be a freshman in high school, but he is a leader among his teammates on the soccer field.

Vitor Silva has been playing on the JV soccer team for two years and he has a goal for himself and his teammates this year.

“My main goal for the season is to, together with my team, win games and hopefully, this season, win medals for PACA,” said Silva.

Silva is no novice to football, as he has been playing since he was very young.

“When I started playing I was about 5 years old,” said Silva. “I was in kindergarten. At first, I have to admit that I wasn’t a huge fan of soccer and preferred to do other things. Then, I saw my friends playing and decided to give it a try and I fell in love with the sport and, since then, I haven’t stopped playing.”

Silva is also hoping that his team can compete well in upcoming championships. The two big championships are SPHL and the competition at NR known best as “Little 8” but was called “Little 10” last year because more schools were involved.

“I think we can battle for a medal in both championships,” said Silva.

In order to prepare for those championships, the team will focus on footwork and team building skills in the upcoming games.  Their first games will be in September.  They will face Graded on October 4 in their first home game (outside of the JV Festival event).

Vitor Silva says he is growing in his confidence in his team to face each of their opponents in the upcoming games.

“I will give an eight [out of ten] to my confidence since we have a good team but there are some things we need to work on,” said Silva.
