The second semester season of varsity futsal and volleyball has been one of great anticipation and great frustration for PACA athletes as both girls and boys teams strive to rise above the ranks in the SPHSL standings.
The one team to achieve the most victories has been the Varsity Boys Volleyball team.
“For me the future of the volleyball team’s season is promising. We have the chance of going to the final but we also have the chance of not even getting to the semis. I believe, as a team, we have the ability to win our last game and pass through directly to the final,” Felipe Morales says, who is one of the starting players for the volleyball team. He shares his optimistic view about the near future of the volleyball team, and he has aspirations to play in the final.
As part of the SPHS league, the school that takes first place in the standing advances to the finals, and second and third place face-off to go to the semi-finals.
As of the last round of games on Tuesday, March 25, The PACA Girls Volleyball team is not advancing to the semi-finals. The Girls Futsal team is battling for the third place position. The Boys Futsal team is fighting for the third place position and has to overcome a 15 GAV difference. The Boys Volleyball team had remained undefeated and on 4-game and 12 set streak, until losing twice in a row to different schools in the league. Now they hope to win the game against St. Paul’s to consolidate their position on the standings. They have a guaranteed spot at least to the semi-finals.
