PACA Warriors Varsity teams took to the basketball court for their first game of the season at EAC campus on Thursday, September 5.  This was also the first time that the cheerleaders were able to perform the cheers they had been practicing throughout the month of August.

Our girls’ basketball team brought the win to PACA with the cheerleader’s performing at the end of the court.  The cheerleaders performed some favorite cheers from last year, but also showed some new choreographies for this year.

The girls game ended with a score of 28 to 18 while the boys were warming up and preparing to start their game.

Coach Brian Zuercher observed that the game was not easily won.  “It got a little close,” said Zuercher about the final score for the Warriors.

On the other hand, the boy’s team fought hard, but didn’t reach the goal of winning their game that night. The boys game started slightly behind schedule, and the EAC team took their home court to full advantage.

The boys game against EAC was a hard game, but the truth is EAC seemed to be several steps ahead of the PACA in all aspects of pressure, passing and sinking their baskets as the Warriors scrambled to keep up with their energy and speed throughout the first half of the game. The first quarter ended 20:5 for EAC.
Another struggle for PACA was in sinking their free throws (FT), throughout the game, as they maintained a percentage of 17% success. Although PACA began to gain some traction during the third quarter of the game, it wasn’t enough to make a real impact on a score that continued with a 20 point gap between the two teams.  The game ended with a score of 57:31 and a win for the EAC Varsity boys.
