On Friday, May 16th, during the 7th and 8th period classes, the school held its annual Mother’s Day Tea in the PACA gymnasium that had been specially adorned and decorated for this event. This event has always been a special way to honor the moms in our school community and the women who fill the role of a mother to the students of PACA.

This year’s theme was “Bringing Up With Grace,” which was the central idea for activities, songs and devotional time for the event.

Alice Sena, the secretary for Renata Santos, helped her to organized the whole event.

“The first thing that we do for the development of the mother’s day tea is choosing the theme,” said Sena, “and after that I start to think about all the things I’m going to use for the event in itself.”

In the weeks leading up to the event, the high school choir, middle school worship team, and many elementary students were busy practicing songs in Portuguese that they could sing to bless their mothers.

Both the high school choir and the younger kids performed songs, which made the moment even more meaningful and memorable. It was a joyful time to see students of different ages come together to show love and appreciation for their moms.

The event began with a performance by the preschool and elementary students, who sang “Um Doce de Mãe.” After that, the elementary and middle school students performed “Cantarei Teu Amor Para Sempre.” The high school choir then sang “Sapato Velho.”

Mrs. Natalie Campos was the guest speaker, who shared an important message with the mothers. Campos is a local author who earned a degree in advertising, and works with other women in the city of São Paulo whose husbands study at the Presbyterian Seminary here. She is a featured author in the webpage called “Voltemos Au Evangelho (LINK HERE).” Her writing is used to inspire Christian mothers both in and out of Sao Paulo.

Also, when asked about what was most important and significant of the tea, Alice Sena said, “I think that for me the most memorable thing is having the gathering of mothers.”

Overall, it was a great event that brought people together and made the moms feel loved and appreciated. It was a simple but meaningful way to show love and appreciation for others, and it was a calm and joyful way to end the school week.
