Physical Education (P.E.) can be a fun class, but getting an A takes effort. For high school students at PACA, P.E. happens during the eighth and final period of the day.  At this time in the quarter, the students meet with Coach Fabio in the backcourts for their class. Although it may seem like an easy class, some may still worry about how to keep an excellent grade throughout the semester.  So, here are some tips on how to earn your A in P.E.

P.E. is all about movement and exercise, so it’s important to be active and participate in all activities. Even if you don’t feel like it, participating shows your teacher that you’re trying your hardest. Some of the sports are: volleyball, badminton, soccer, futsal, basketball, track and field, and swimming.

In P.E., your teacher will explain rules and show you how to do different exercises or games. Pay attention, follow the instructions, and do what you learn. Being able to follow directions will help you to have a higher grade. Some benefits include better learning skills.  This allows you to understand and remember things more easily. You also have more productivity, and you finish tasks faster and make fewer mistakes.

Another thing that makes your grade higher is to come to class with your gym clothes on, or other comfortable clothes that should be used for physical exercise. You may lose points if you’re not dressed appropriately. Wearing the right clothes for PE helps you move better and stay comfortable during activities. This can make it easier to participate fully and improve your grade because you can focus on doing your best.

Arriving on time shows your interest in the class. If you arrive late, you might miss important instructions or warm-ups, which can also make your grades a little lower. Being on time for PE helps you start the activities without missing anything important. This shows you’re responsible and ready, which can improve your grade by showing good participation and effort.

“P.E is very helpful because we are trying out different types of sports,”said Joyce Choi. “Which helps me find my hoobie my interests. Although I’m not a very skilled person I always try my best to try out every sport. My favorite thing about PE is that we spend most of our time playing sports instead of exercising, which is a good way to exercise in a fun and creative way.”

Karina Lee, a freshman said, “P.E helps our health, we stay stronger, and healthier, and also a nice thing about P.E is that we get to practice sports that we don’t normally have the opportunity to play. I always  try my best to play every sport and have a lot of effort to achieve the best possible results. My favorite thing about P.E is that after being seated and studying the whole day, I have the opportunity to exercise and have fun.”

In my opinion, getting an A in P.E. isn’t just about being the fastest or strongest person in class. It’s about trying your best, staying active, and having a good attitude. Always remember to use your time wisely!
