Paca Teams Face Chapel: Girls Win 3-1, Boys Lose 3-0

Tuesday, Sept. 24 – Paca’s varsity girls’ soccer team triumphed over Chapel with a score of 3-1 in an afternoon of competitive matches, while the boys’ team faced a tough defeat, falling to Chapel with a score of 3-0.
The girls’ game started slowly for PACA, with the team struggling to find its rhythm. Goalkeeper Luisa Almeida reflected on the sluggish beginning.
“We didn’t have a good start,” said Almeida. “It felt like we were a bit slow and on the wrong foot at first. However, as the half progressed, we began to regain our stride.”
PACA’s breakthrough came with a stunning free kick from Valentina that completely surprised the Chapel goalkeeper.
Almeida praised the goal, saying, “It was an incredible shot—she hit the ball perfectly, sending it high into the net.”
Shortly after, senior Julia Falchi extended PACA’s lead with a well-placed shot into the corner of the net just before halftime.
Chapel’s team showed more aggression in the second half and managed to convert a crucial goal from a foul just outside the penalty area. However, PACA’s defense remained resilient, ensuring they maintained their lead.
“In the second half, we knew we could have done better,” said Almeida. “but we learned a lot and managed to hold on for the win.”
In the boys’ match, PACA faced Chapel and unfortunately lost 3-0. The game highlighted several costly defensive lapses for Chapel.
Defender Filipe Cruz said, “It was a tough match for us. We made mistakes in the first half that led to three goals.”
Despite a stronger effort in the second half, Chapel struggled to create scoring opportunities. PACA gained momentum and took advantage of their chances, while Chapel had difficulty regaining control in this tactical match.
Fans in attendance witnessed a mix of performances during the matches. Lucas Abreu praised PACA’s effort, saying, “Both teams played with a lot of heart, but PACA really showcased its skill and teamwork.”
In contrast, Izabela Silva, a PACA student and another observer noted the opportunities for the athletes to grow and improve.
“PACA’s boys team has potential,” said Silva. “But they need to improve their communication and stay focused during critical moments of the game.”
