After suffering a disappointing 8-goal loss against Chapel, the varsity boys team played an intense soccer game against St. Paul’s School on Thursday, August 22, that still resulted in a 5-1 loss for the Warriors.

The Warriors had a goal scored by Dylan Meira at the very end of the second half of the game after three goals scored by the opposing team. Soon after, there were two more goals from St. Paul’s who continued on with the victory.

Sophomore Rafael Portella claimed that, compared to the previous game, everyone was trying extremely hard and truly wanted to win.

“The team was very competitive, we were prepared and very excited with the hope of victory,” Portella added.

The game got more stressful since it involved a lot of energy and adrenaline. Partway through the game, there was an incident with a header that involved a head on collision between Senior Felipe Pedroso and a St. Paul’s player, sending Pedrozo to the hospital with an eye injury.

Despite the difficulties and losing both matches so far, time has shown progress and focus. It shows who they really want to represent, their families, the PACA community and their team.

“The game was wonderful to watch,” said freshman Luisa Almeida.  “You could see how the team gave their all and they supported each other. It was remarkable that they didn’t stop playing despite the goals scored.”
